Announcement of Cairns Airport sale

Plans to sell the Cairns Airport was announced on the 15th April during the opening hours of Parliament.  Also being sold is the Mackay Airport as well as the government’s remaining stake in the Brisbane Airport, allowing for immediate funding for the much needed upgrades to the Cairns, Mackay and Mt Isa healthcare facilities.

As you know, the Cairns Port Authority have been major contributors to destination marketing and the tourism industry was instrumental in establishing the Cairns International Airport.  This is early days and we still await final transcripts of this announcement by the Queensland government before we are able to address many of the unanswered questions.  We will post any information we receive on our website as soon as it becomes available.
